Information: work and employment
Finding work (and the right job for you) requires many skills like:-
Determination
The right connections, and knowing where to look
Dealing with disappointment
Having self control
Social skills in interviews, and in the job
Writing a good job application
Good organisation skills, keeping to time
Diplomacy at work, knowing the rules, and not breaking them at first
Having the right qualifications may not get you the job! Many people who are very successful don't have the right qualifications, but they do have a mix of the skills listed here.
Advice
  • Developing these skills requires time and patience, most adults take some years to get there, but some teenagers have them all, quite early on in life.
  • If you are having trouble, you may want to break the problem down into small bits, and work on each, one at a time.
  • You will need some advice from friends and family, and feedback from jobs you did not get or lost.
