Advice
People who play sport, or an musical instrument, know that anxiety helps improve performance, as long as the anxiety is not too much. With most new things, you will worry, or even fear it, (like parachuting with no training). After training and safe practice, it can be done (usually!) Learning to cope with anxiety is about teaching your mind and body to look at the situation realistically. For instance, too much anxiety about spiders (a phobia) could be dealt with by telling yourself, "spiders cannot cause serious harm in the UK, my fear is groundless and my body is overeacting" Learning to deal with worries especially if they are very severe can be very difficult. Some steps to recovery include:-1) Finding the energy and determination to do so 2) Accepting that the anxiety is excessive for the situation 3) Finding the right help, many people find unexpected solutions and sources |
